Welcome
Welcome to The Hermit Club
Founded in 1904, and located in the heart of Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, the Hermit Club is the nation’s oldest continuously operating private club devoted to nonprofessional performing arts. It enthusiastically embraces both performers and audience members; many of the club’s leaders have no talent, but a sincere appreciation for it.
The club’s foundations are in orchestra, drama, chorus and big band jazz, which are typically held two or more times each year.
But the club offers so much more: the annual themed Alley Party in June; Hermit Idol; Books, Authors and You; Poetry Nights; Reverse Raffle; Ladies’ Night; Smoke, Shave & Shine for the men; annual Mind Games competition with the British American Chamber of Commerce; holiday themed impromptu singalongs and more. In fact, members are encouraged to bring event ideas forward, and many of the events above have grown out of member suggestions in recent years.
The Hermit Club’s eclectic and enchanted setting is the perfect place to relax, unwind, entertain and take spotlight – if you wish to do so.
Whether center stage, backstage or in the audience, The Hermit Club has something for everyone. We invite you to experience it for yourself.
